The Breeze Gold and Gallery had its grand opening in June of 2008, bringing a new idea to the city of Quesnel, BC. – a combination of a retail jewellery store and an art gallery, coexisting to bring a broad and invigorating spectrum of beautiful things to the people of the Cariboo.

While it is a new business with a fresh look, its roots are deep in the community. The same family has been operating much the same business in the same building on Reid Street for almost fifty years – since the days when this central block of business in Quesnel was home to Hoy’s Department store, Keen’s Mens Wear, Cunningham Drugs, Stedmans, and Marshall Wells Hardware Store.

When my father opened Regal Jewellers in 1960, there were no credit cards or computers or colour TVs in this town. The Beatles were still in high school. I was in grade one at Quesnel Elementary School, and my teacher was Mrs. Helen Dixon. History buzzed by in a blur, and suddenly I’m right back where I started, except that I now wear bifocals and my back hurts.

A lot of water has gone under the old wooden footbridge. Lynda, our store manager has worked at this location for more than twenty-five years, although remarkably, she has got no older in that time. Likewise, I have moved from salesclerk to serviceman to sole proprietor, and over all that time I have remained totally immature.

On the bright side of this, over that half-century we’ve built up a wonderful reputation, great technical abilities, a full spectrum of product knowledge, and a bushel of funny stories. We have a terrific staff, full goldsmithing and service capability, and 2000 square feet of space, showing fine quality jewellery, (Pandora, Elle, Kameleon, Corona, Siffari, Areli Pearls, and much more...) as well as some of the best work of some of the best artists and artisans in the area.

While the specific creations on display from these extremely talented people is constantly changing, you will be able to get a glimpse here on the website of the work that we have been privileged to show, and an idea of what is currently available.
